Main Post:
I need around a 50", it's for my garage so I'm looking at the hyper cheap tv's like the ones in Walmart. Spending around $300.

Best Budget Smart TV that doesn't suck
Main Post:
Looking for a budget smart TV, 50-55 inches.
Edit: Ended up buying one after coming across this site that basically did the research for me, ended up saving me so much time :) Thanks for your recs everyone!
Its for the spare room. Just for streaming Netflix and YouTube, nothing fancy. Don't need some high-end display or anything like that. Just something with a half-decent picture and smart features.
Been eyeing some of the TCL or Hisense models online because they're cheap. But you see mixed reviews about the smart TV interface being sluggish or dropping Wi-Fi. Don't want to buy something that's gonna be a pain in the ass after a month.
Budget is around £400-£500. Any recommendations that aren't complete crap at that price point?
TIA.
Top Comment: Buy literally any TV. Then buy an AppleTV
I want a giant budget tv. How am I best to spend my money?
Main Post:
I want a big ass TV (85 inches probably) for my new house.
i currently have one of the 65 inch Samsung Crystal entry level TV's and honestly, it goes just fine. im not a snob for picture quality or anything like that i dont game on it, its literally for watching netflix with my wife.
I get a Samsung Discount so one of their 85 inch Crystals will cost me like 2K, but for the same price there are options from Hisense and TCL which go much harder, they have better refresh rates, mini LED etc.
My question is: As a heathen who doesn't notice picture quality and consumes mostly trash TV and the occasional Disney movie, do I stick with something like an entry-level Samsung, or do the Hisense and TCLs of the world have the same quality? Are they making genuinely better TVs?
Top Comment: Best bang for your buck right now is the TCL QM7 or QM8. The 85" QM7 is $1399 right now. I'd go with that.
What are the best options for televisions around $150 or less?
Main Post: I have three setups in the house. There is the TV in the living room which is a 24" SDTV from the mid-2000's hooked up to a PS2. There is a TV in one of the bedrooms which is a Vizio 720p LCD from 2007 (terrible viewing angles, washed out blacks, but it was still an impressive upgrade at the time) . The setup in my bedroom is the most advanced. I have a desktop which I built myself connected to both a Dell UltraSharp U2412Mb 24-Inch (1200p, 300 cd/m2) which is the main monitor, and a LG 27EA63V-P 27" IPS (1080p, 250 cd/m2), which functions both as a secondary monitor, and the display for my Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PS3. Now, I love the LG, the bezel is beautiful, and both movies and games look great on them, but the audio setup is a pain, I have to connect the sound from the consoles through the computer and back to the monitor, something I hadn't considered when contemplating the purchase, as visual is a little more important to me than audio. (So much so that I have a pair of 2W Cyber Acoustics speakers from a decade ago to go with this fine display.) Now, I'm considering to buy two or three TVs to upgrade the other rooms and to resolve this inconvenience. But my budget is only about $150 per TV. What should I buy for that? I am considering either the Samsung UN28H4000 28" (which has the Samsung branded asset of being able to play movies off a USB drive) or the TCL Roku 32S301 32". Both of these are 720p, though. People say "you can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p at that size" but I can, in the sense that a 720p TV broadcast is very noticeably different than 1080p Blu-ray playback, and the 1080p from Netflix looks noticeably inferior to the higher bit rate Blu-ray as well. Do higher bit rates translate to 720p screens? Because I've really found bitrates to be a more relevant issue with HD content. And for games, well, I was thinking of playing games while lying in bed, and the monitor is not currently directed in front of the bed (you would think this would be the case, but my bedroom is small for all the stuff I have in it) so if I reorient the bed in front of the TV, would I do well to buy the 32 inch no matter what or should I hold out for an even bigger (1080p) TV? As it is, the monitor is oriented about 4 feet away when usually play games. Since many games are not even in 1080p, and the original Xbox One I have caps out at 900p or so, does it even matter?
Top Comment: Most TV broadcasts are at 1080i not 720p. So you are comparing 540p vs 1080p, An interlaced signal has to be deinterlaced so more processing is needed. If the signal also has to be upscaled to match the resolution of the panel then that processing also affects the quality of the picture. Cheap TVs ...
What's the best budget smart TV that's actually worth buying?
Main Post:
I don't give a crap about picture quality, 1080 is plenty good enough, and I don't have room for anything bigger than a 40"-class. I just want a smart TV that isn't gawd awful slow and doesn't crash all the time. Do I have to spend 4-figures and get some UHD 4k what-not that's bigger than my livingroom to get a smart TV that will load Bluey before my child is a teenager and doesn't want to watch Bluey anymore? (his loss) Hoping someone can help me out here because I've had a Samsung, Philips, Roku (TCL?), and now a FireTv, and they've all been crap right out the box.
Solved: Dumb TV with a Fire Stick. I actually still have an old one, but might get a new one instead, and find myself the size, dumb TV of my choice. Thanks everyone, and especially u/MaineKent!
Top Comment: My suggestion is get a Vizio TV and then your preference of a Roku, Google TV, Fire stick, or Apple TV and plug that into the TV to be the "smarts". The processors and software on most all TVs aren't very good and it's much easier to update a $20-30 dongle if it starts to be too slow or some new features come out. Plus the dongles are significantly faster in my experience. I love my Google TV ones but have had decent success with Roku devices too.
Are cheap TVs really that bad?
Main Post:
I still remember around 2014 I was looking for a new TV. Decent 65" for under $1000 was almost impossible to find, and it was an awesome deal if you could find one. Fast fwd 10 years, 2024, you can get a 65" for $300, 75" for $400, and 85" for $700. Obviously there are more expensive ones, but are these cheap ones really that bad? From a marketing glance, they have all the main features
Top Comment: Go look at them in the store? TVs have become a cheap commodity. Yes the more expensive ones are absolutely better, especially when you get into OLED, MiniLED, or even just premium IPS and VA panels. However the moderately priced ones are very good and the cheap ones are still good, assuming youre not doing HDR, gaming, etc.
How would I get a decent sized tv for cheap?
Main Post:
I’m stingy and hesitant about getting one online although if it comes broken I can return it if through Amazon. As long as I can plug my PlayStation 4 into it I’m good though I like the idea of a smart TV however with the apps I have on PlayStation it’s not necessary because it operates like a smart TV and game system so 🤷🏼♀️
Top Comment: TVs are dirt cheap lately.
What’s a good cheap brand of tv? Don’t need crazy good sound.

Best Budget 65” TV under 600
Main Post:
What Tv would you guys recommend to purchase. Just a daily watcher
Top Comment: The cheapest TV this subreddit recommends is the TCL QM7. It’s on Amazon for $697.00 ANYTHING cheaper all falls into the same category of being cheap garbage which will look bad and fail soon.
Best Budget TV
Main Post:
I am so confused with TV's these days. I'm looking for something larger, at least 70+ inches. What's your opinion on the best TV under around $1000? Not a super bright room, and mainly just for sports/streaming.
Top Comment: Gotta be the 75" TCL Q7 or QM7.
